How can therapy help me?

Therapy is a place to deeply care for yourself. It is a space where you are invited to be honest, vulnerable, and free to be yourself and to explore your unique emotional experience. Since therapy is confidential, we can explore your strengths, challenges, hopes, and fears without the risk of judgment from others. This can help you create lasting change within your relationships, find motivation to reach your goals, and understand yourself a little bit better.

What is therapy like?

Systemic therapy begins with an assessment process which explores the different systems and relationships that you have inhabited throughout your lifespan. We explore these structures to find strengths, resources, and barriers that help or hinder you from reaching your goals. Therapy can feel very vulnerable as we will unravel different emotions, thoughts, and patterns which you may have previously avoided exploring. I strive to strike a balance of holding a safe, caring space while challenging you to dig deeper- this can feel uncomfortable and that’s okay. Usually the feeling of discomfort decreases over time as you understand yourself better and the way you navigate the world. Therapy sessions at times may be full of laughter, frustration, joy, or tears. I invite you to be open to the myriad of emotions that may come up as a way of better understanding yourself and others.

How long and often are sessions?

Therapy sessions are 50 minutes long, and it is recommended to begin a therapeutic relationship with weekly sessions. This ensures that we get to know each other well and complete the assessment process quickly.

How long is therapy supposed to last?

The length of a therapeutic episode of care can be hard to estimate as it is dependent upon not just your goals, but also contextual factors such as the relationships and environments that are a part of your everyday life. I like to keep the conversation open from the beginning of care, so that together we can collaborate on when ending treatment feels right. I highly recommend having a termination session to reflect on all the work you have done and to craft a plan to move forward with.

How do I determine if you are a good fit for me?

The therapeutic relationship is very important and one of the main factors that improve therapeutic outcomes. I would start with my areas of expertise to see if they align with your goals, and then tune into how it feels to have a consultation call or first session with me. Therapy should feel both safe and challenging. I will discuss expectations at the beginning of therapy that may help you determine fit, and I invite you to bring any reservations, hopes, or concerns you may have throughout the therapeutic process.

How much does therapy cost?

Individual sessions: $180

Couples & Relationships: $200

Do you offer in person or telehealth sessions?

I offer both in person and telehealth sessions. Please inquire about the availability of in person sessions during your consultation.

*Telehealth sessions are usually only permitted if you are physically located in the state I am licensed in (WA or HI).

What is your availability and how do I schedule appointments?

I offer appointments Tuesday-Friday from 10am-6pm. Please schedule a free 15 minute consultation, and we will discuss current openings and determine a regular time to meet. During treatment, it is most efficient to use email to request or cancel future appointments.

Do you accept insurance?

I do not accept insurance but will provide a monthly statement (superbill) to give to your insurance carrier for reimbursement. I recommend checking with them before our first appointment to see their reimbursement rate and policy.

What is your cancellation policy?

If you need to cancel your appointment, please email or leave a voicemail 48 hours before your scheduled appointment time. The cancellation rate is the full fee for the session.
